  • RIGID

It was at my PARTY that she finally BROKE through a SWIRL of rumors about who she was. I had not known that there had been such confusuon around her — she had always been a delight to me. But clever wit and a big vocabulary sometimes INCUR  misunderstanding.  I, for one, refused to be RIGID in my relationships. Approach others with curiosity and kindness, assume good intentions: these were my mottos.

    Jenny mastered the ability
    to PAINT watercolor BIRCH trees.
Just the right level of pressure,
    twist of her wrist. Brushstroke
only a piece of the equation.
    Edge of credit card dipped,
    pulled crossways for the curve.
    Through the woods a RIVER,
    Serene, predictable nature scene.
    Until she playfully added Bigfoot
    moving out from the edge.
    Unexpectedly goofy. Those
    who think she’s RIGID,
    know her not.
